Happiness

The other day I read in the newspaper an interview of an economist colleague of mine. He is very well known in our town and spoke on various other subjects besides economics.

At some point the reporter asked about the death of his youngest son and asked him what was happiness. He promptly replied "I have no idea!"

Shockingly the answer for anyone who has not felt the pain we experienced, isn't it?.
But I agreed with him wholeheartedly because I totally understand him!

Today, I read a quote attributed to Aristóleles that caught my attention : "Happiness is having something to do, someone to love and something to hope for ."

So to find happiness we need exactly these three ingredients in our lives :
1 ) have to do, that is something for which we can devote our time , effort and intelligence, it will make us feel useful;
2 ) have someone to love: we love our children who are now angels in heaven and we certainly have many other people to love here on earth ;
3 ) have something to expect ... Well our biggest hope is to reconnect with our beloved children and that certainty have in our Lord Jesus Christ .

If the great philosopher Aristotle is correct then we can still consider ourselves happy , though.

"Blessed be God who lives eternally. Exalt God before every living being,
Because He is our Lord. He is our God. He is our Father, He is God forever and ever." Tobias 13:2-4
