Faith and Peace, after all

When a tragedy happens, it is common to imagine that we are the only ones, that nothing bad happens to anyone else, only us, unfortunates.
In fact, everyone goes through personal tragedies, minor or major, and everything depends on what is meant by tragedy.
Losing material assets or employment, or even indebtedness, can be considered a tragedy for many.
But anyone who knows the loss of true love as a child, knows that nothing material can compare.
There it becomes clear what Jesus both asked for and our detachment from material goods.
It is not possible to replace a loss.
I know people who adopted children soon after a loss.
It is useless and can be quite disappointing.
The pain of loss must be faced.
It takes courage to accept and continue to believe that God is our Father and that He loves us.
Believing, believing and meeting like-minded people who have also suffered devastating losses can help a lot in this painful and necessary process.
When my son left I joined a group of mothers who suffered the same pain. This group was founded by a psychologist and today works through a whatsApp group.
Groups like this are valuable because it makes us realize that we are not alone.
Amazingly, we feel that we are helped but that we can also help others.
I recently got to know the life story of a famous American lawyer, Horácio Spafford.
I learned about his biography after listening and paying attention to the lyrics of a moving song that spoke in peace despite everything and preserving the faith despite everything!
I was impressed and the first time I heard it I thought: whoever wrote this song certainly went through what I went through.
I found it to be true. In fact, what happened to him is much worse than what happened to any of us.
He lost his only son, then lost all his assets in a fire and then lost his four daughters in a ship crash at once.
That is the secret: faith that leads to peace, despite everything.
